Summary: When Barney is found after disappearing for a week, the gang finds him changed in a way they could never have imagined.

Author's Notes: Probably one of the darkest pieces I've ever written, and a shameless excuse for a hurt/comfort fest really... I began writing this fic at the end of Season 5, and told myself I would post it once I finished it. Two years onwards, it is now the end of Season 7, and I realise that HIMYM will probably end before I can post it, if I continue to wait. So here it is.
I have a number of chapters done already... and hopefully posting it will motivate me to write some more!

So I've been invited to my former homestay's son's birthday party. He's turning fourteen.
The thing is, presents were easy to come by when he was a young boy... but at fourteen... gosh, what is one meant to get a fourteen year old boy?

So I'm in Hong Kong now after a 9 hour plane ride over from Sydney. And on all plane rides, I aim to watch as many in-flight movies as possible (My record is around 4). This time I managed three because I got bogged down by a bout of inability to stay awake sometime between my second and third movie and hence ran out of time (sorry, Inception)... but of the three I did watch:
